My two biggest passions are coffee and handmade designs and these beautiful ceramic cups by my good friend Wendy Calder involve both. These beautiful two-tone scraffito square-edged mugs are made from earthenware clay with cow parsley, dandelion and allium designs scratched into the clay and a dark earthy red brown inner glaze. They feel really good to hold. The pieces are thrown on the wheel, the bases are turned when leather-hard and then a pulled handle is attached. White slip is then applied and the scraffito technique is used to produce the images.
The work is bisque fired to 1000oc. A transparent glaze is then applied and fired to 1160oc giving it a lovely toasty red finish. All cups hold 10oz/285ml. Cups may vary slightly from images as each piece is handmade and unique.
Dimensions: Height 7cm x Width 9cm
Care: Dishwasher and microwave safe, however Wendy recommends hand washing them with care.
