My two biggest passions are coffee and craft and these beautiful ceramic cups by my good friend Wendy Calder involve both. I drink my morning coffee from one of these large round coffee cups and it makes a great start to the day! These beautiful two-tone scraffito mugs are made from earthenware clay with cow parsley, dandelion and allium designs scratched into the clay and a white inner glaze. They feel really good to wrap both hands around. The pieces are thrown on the wheel, the bases are turned when leather-hard and then a pulled handle is attached. White slip is then applied and the scraffito technique is used to produce the images.
The work is bisque fired to 1000oc. A transparent glaze is then applied and fired to 1160oc giving it a lovely toasty red finish. All cups hold 10oz/285ml. Cups may vary slightly from images as each piece is handmade and unique.
Dimensions: Height 7cm x Width 9cm
Care: Dishwasher and microwave safe, however Wendy recommends hand washing them with care.
