We do a lot of driving, especially as my husband Charlie is a gigging musician, so when Alastair Sawday who I’ve known for years, had the idea to create this book I wanted to be involved and I knew there was a need for it! Plus I love books! I was lucky enough to be part of the initial team working on the First Edition before it was published and I think it’s such a fantastic idea that I asked if I could stock it when it came out. We sold out of 3 print runs of the 1st Edition and the 2nd Edition is now available in time for Christmas, with more brilliant independent alternatives to horrible motorway service stations and expanded coverage to include delicious eateries across Scotland, England and Wales. .
Every page contains a beautiful hidden gem of a place you can stop off at instead of going to a service station, and without having to drive more than 15 minutes from a motorway junction. It’s full of fantastic farm shops, independent cafes, cosy pubs and quirky attractions, so you can stop off en route and eat delicious locally sourced food and drink whilst supporting local businesses. It’s the perfect Christmas gift for everyone who loves travel, good food and supporting local businesses! Featuring 350 venues with stunning photography and a handy guide to facilities available (such as electric car charging points), the book is divided up by motorway and comes with a loyalty fob you can show at selected venues to get special discounts, exclusive offers and even in one case a box of free eggs!
Motorways and roads covered in the 2nd edition are the M1, M3, M4, M5, M6, M11, A1, A12, A14, A30, A38, A303, M40, M42, Scotland (A68/M74/A1) and Wales & the Borders.
