There is nothing quite as comforting as a good cup of tea in a beautiful handcrafted mug. People always want to pick up Wendy’s beautiful mugs on my market stalls as they feel so great to hold and they are a good size for a cup of tea or coffee. I’ve been wanting to stock some lovely hand-blended teas for a while and over the past few months, I’ve been tasting various teas from lovely, small independent and sustainable tea blenders in the UK. My favourites are these lovely hand blended teas by Tina at Hoogly Tea.
Tina comes from Denmark and combines her love of tea with the Nordic concept of hygge – a year-round feeling of warmth, wellbeing and cosiness – to create a unique and lovely range of blends, made with the finest natural ingredients. All her teas are hand blended and packed in South East England, ethically sourced and fairly traded. The fully biodegradable tea pyramids are soil association certified and made out of plant extract too, so there is no plastic in them unlike most supermarket brand tea bags.
I have chosen my five favourite flavours from her collection with something for all tea lovers, whether you prefer herbal, rooibos or black tea -choose from rich Marzipan rooibos, tasty Baked Apple Chai black tea, warming Ginger Biscuit rooibos, uplifting Chill Out Mint and fresh Apple Strudel green tea. You can see the full details of each of the different flavours below.
Each gift set is made up of one beautiful red 10oz earthenware mug in a choice of 3 seedhead designs and either a round or square edged shape mug, as well as 2 tea pods containing 5 tea pyramids in each one. Please let me know which two teas you would like to choose in the Notes box on the order form. These are all packaged in a recycled Kraft card gift box, filled with wood wool, and decorated with colourful raffia. If you are sending this gift directly and want me to gift wrap the box itself so that the recipient can’t see the contents, I can do that and I can add a handwritten card with your message too.
My tea pairing suggestions are Baked Apple Chai (my favourite) with either Ginger Biscuit or Marzipan to make a lovely decadent duo and the Chill Out Mint and Apple Strudel make a lovely relaxing herbal duo.
Marzipan is a deliciously rich almondy rooibos tea – I am a big lover of all things almond flavoured and I used to eat marzipan on its own when I was a child, so I knew I would love this one!
Ingredients – Rooibos, Almond Pieces (5%), Mallow Flowers, Vanilla Pieces, Natural Flavouring.
Baked Apple Chai is a really tasty chai-like black tea. I’ve always loved Chai tea, and this apple version is so good! This one is my very favourite of all Tina’s teas. It’s got cinnamon and cloves in, two of my favourite spices, and dried apple pieces, with a mellow Sri Lankan tea base.
Ingredients – Sri Lankan Black Tea, Freeze-dried Apple Pieces (9%), Ginger, Cinnamon, Cloves, Natural-dried Apple Pieces (3%), Vanilla Pieces, Blackberry Leaves, Lime Leaves, Safflower Petals, Natural Flavouring
Chill Out Mint is a beautifully fresh tasting and uplifting blend with a mix of the freshest tasting mints and herbs
Ingredients – Peppermint (45%), Spearmint (30%), Eucalyptus, Pine Needles
Apple Strudel is a lovely appley fresh green tea with a classic combination of sweet spices and apple, blended with roasted green tea.
Ingredients – Chinese Green Tea (51%), Spices (35%) (Cinnamon, Cloves), Apple Pieces (9%), Japanese Hojicha Green Tea (5%), Calendula Petals, Sunflower Petals, Natural Flavouring.
Ginger Biscuit is a warming afternoon rooibos tea, with ginger, cardamom and cinnamon. It brings to life the classic tea biscuit with its blend of malty Rooibos, warming ginger and a hint of spice.
Ingredients: Rooibos (75%), Ginger (15%), Cardamom, Cinnamon, Natural flavouring
