Atlantic Blankets is husband and wife team Gemma and Alastair who live in Perranporth, Cornwall. The idea was born in 2007 when in need of a bright and soft blanket that possessed magical curative powers of cosiness to comfort their little girl who had chicken pox. They couldn’t find anything, so they created them.
Inspired by their Cornish surroundings and the amazing coastline of the British Isles, they create beautiful woven treats in a range of lovely bright and natural colours. Their collection mixes nautical contemporary design and colour, with traditional weaving methods and natural fabrics. I was drawn to their beautiful ice-cream stripe wool throw initially and then found it hard not to want everything in the collection! I also love the personal touch of the handpicked shells on each one that their children have collected from the nearby beaches! I met Alistair to touch and feel the blankets in person to be sure that they were what I was after for These Two Hands as I try to meet all the makers that I feature and they were perfect!
