Beautiful foxgloves fill the hedgerows in summer and are one of my favourite sights. They are the alternative birth flower for the month of June, alongside roses and have lots of links to fairy folklore. The nodding, bell-shaped flowers are said to ring softly in the wind, calling fairies to gather or warning them of human approach and some say the dark spots and speckles inside the throat of the foxglove blossom are the fingerprints or thumbprints of fairies, left behind when they touched the flower. They definitely have a magical feel to them. Each one of these wooden foxgloves by Maggie of Natty Deco is laser cut from birchwood and painted by hand on both sides.
You can team these with a range of other wooden flowers and seedheads in a small vase or bottle, or just place them on your mantelpiece.
