My wooden flower presses have become the bestselling thing in my collection over the past couple of years which makes me so happy! And I’m really excited to be able to offer this personalised option now too. These personalised flower presses take a bit longer to make so the sooner you can give me the name for the press before you need it, the better. I need to do them in small batches so any names ordered by mid-January will be etched by end of January, then I’ll send another batch to be lasered in mid-February and delivered by end of February etc… so if you want to give someone a personalised press for a birthday at the start of April, please order it by mid-March.
It was rediscovering the old wooden flower press I had as a child a few years ago that started my obsession with pressing flowers and leaves. I started running pressed flower craft workshops for both children and adults and realised it was hard to find a great quality and decent sized wooden flower press, so I made some. There is something so magical about opening up a flower press after a few weeks when you’ve often forgotten what you put inside it to discover all the beautiful delicate papery flowers and leaves.
My flower presses are made from sustainable plywood and my logo and design has been laser etched into the wood by a lovely company called Cut By Beam in Cornwall. I fill each one with 7 layers of double wall cardboard for a sturdier press and there are 2 pieces of parchment paper in between each layer to press your flowers and leaves perfectly. Most flower presses only have 4 or 5 layers, but I wanted to create something that can press a bit more each time as I always have way more flowers and leaves than can fit in my press so I’ve created a deeper press with 6 layers. I hope you love your flower press and if it’s a gift for a child, I like to think that they too will still be using it well into their forties and beyond as I am!
Each press comes fully assembled and with a plantable wildflower seed leaflet containing tips on how best to press your flowers and leaves. Once you’ve read about how to use the press, you can then plant the flyer and grow flowers to press!
